Assassin's Creed Unveils Bizarre AoT Event for Holiday Season
In a unexpected partnership that challenges traditional forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Revealed
According to the authorized statement, "A strange meeting leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where hints of prohibited practices and monstrous changes echo through the darkness." The narrative presents a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a hidden cult.
The mission concentrates on "bizarre tests and a fearsome enemy" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Metamorphoses
The teaser highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser finishes with a powerful moment showing a character, likely the captive, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Rewards and Additional Content
Players who finish the mission will receive an unique katana alongside several artifacts secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Newest Free Story Addition
This update also brings the game's third no-cost story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature skills: Naoe reveals a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Anime Collaborations
This marks hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime series. The series previously included a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally contained a quest that obviously echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
